This week’s guest host on Shawn Parr’s Backstage Country is Riley Green! The country hitmaker joins us all week to talk hunting, songwriting, hearing his new music on the radio, and so much more.

Green released his sophomore album, a 12-track project back in October. One thing is for sure, it’s undeniably country. Ain’t My Last Rodeo includes his current single, “Different ‘Round Here,” featuring Luke Combs, and a brand new collaboration with Jelly Roll, “Copenhagen In A Cadillac.”

The multi-platinum singer-songwriter will hit the road starting in Pikeville, Kentucky, on February 22 for his headlining 2024 Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour. Green has enlisted Tracey Lawrence to support him across select dates and Ella Langley across all dates.

Green has had major success since being named the 2020 ACM winner of the New Artist of the Year. His 2018 release of “There Was This Girl” became a No. 1 platinum hit, and the personal track, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” has since gone 2x-platinum.

Not only does Green have a full week ahead as our guest on Backstage Country, but he recently just announced that he will be taking over Flora-Bama in April for the Riley Green Duckman Jam with Lawrence, Langley, Jake Worthington, Drake White, and more.

The singer-songwriter continues to blow away everyone around him, including his fellow country stars. Green recently shared a video of himself performing a new track he wrote on Instagram which garnered comments from Morgan Wallen (“Love this brother”), Trey Lewis (“Pure”), Kolby Cooper (“Holy cow this is elite”), Wade Bowen (“Damn good”), among others.

• Riley was a Division 1 FCS Quarterback

  Green was on the Jacksonville State University football team. He played quarterback, and in his junior year, he had two starts, completing 55 of 100 passes for 612 yards and four touchdowns. Green never did play in the NFL, as he pursued a career in music instead.

• A contestant on the CMT reality show “Redneck Island”

  Riley received his first big break as a contestant on the fourth season of CMT's reality series "Redneck Island." Steve Austin hosted 12 rough and rowdy contestants on an uninhabited paradise as they battled each other for $ 100,000 in cold, hard cash. Green appeared as a contestant on the fourth season in 2016. He was selected to compete based on his outgoing personality and love for the outdoors. His participation in the show was relatively short-lived, as he was eliminated early in the season.

• Felt Spoiled On Brad Paisley Tour

  Riley told us after he wrapped his first tour as an opener for Brad Paisley in 2019 that he enjoyed the luxuries of having a somewhat regular schedule, someone else running the show, and quality catering backstage at every venue. He said, "The catering, we're ruined because of it. You know, I'll go out and play my own shows during the week, and then I go out with Brad on the weekend, and it's like me and the band will just be wandering around, like looking for a catering tent, and we don't have it. You know, on our shows, we're like scrounging together to get an after-show pizza."
• He is NOT a Fan of Pickleball

  Green said when he was a guest on the Barstool's Bussin With The Boys podcast recently, "Here's my problem with Pickleball. It's the same problem I have with ping pong or pool, for that matter. It's such a game of skill if you play it, you can be really good at it." nHe added, "I don't like games somebody less athletic than me can beat me in." Riley is a former college football player and is very athletic and into sports. He mainly shares show pics, clips, and his passion for hunting and fishing on his social media.

• Why They Call Him “Duckman”

  Riley "Duckman" Green has always been an avid outdoorsman and hunter. When he is not on stage and making music for his fans, he longs to be in the field. He has collected trophy bucks and longbeards from around the nation, but his passion is waterfowl hunting. His social media handle is @Rileyduckman.

• Riley LOVES Ice Cream

  Green is a pretty healthy guy, and he's relatively disciplined about it, but he says, "I feel like I could eat a tub of ice cream at any point in time, just vanilla ice cream. I catch myself tricking myself into thinking that because it's got milk in it, it's, like, good for you. I will lie to myself quite a bit." Besides trying to rationalize the health benefits of ice cream, Riley also says, "I feel like any type of Italian food, I feel like I could go to any Italian place and just make myself sick eating it any time. So that's probably my favorite guilty pleasure, I guess."
