Lainey Wilson Gives Nashville A ‘Whirlwind’ Of A Weekend
Lainey Wilson kicked off her 2024 Country’s Cool Again tour in Nashville on May 31 with two back-to-back sold-out shows at the Ascend Amphitheater. From the second fans walked through the gates, it was time to “Bell Bottoms Up.”

Wilson’s supporting acts on tour, Zach Top and Ian Munsick, immediately brought the crowd together with their music and mutual love and respect for Wilson. It was a tour lineup that was undeniably country, to say the least, and we loved every second of it.
On both Friday and Saturday nights, the “Hang Tight Honey” singer surprised her fans with a few country music legends. Wynonna Judd (“Refugee”) and Terri Clark (“Poor, Poor Pitiful Me”) appeared on night one in Nashville while Miranda Lambert (“Kerosene”), Keith Urban (“Go Home W U”), and Jelly Roll (“Save Me”) hit the stage during night two.
“I’m with my band in front of a bunch of my wild horses. Not too long ago, me and the boys, we were crammed in one of these things right here… I’m not gonna lie, y’all, lately life has been a whirlwind. That’s the word that I keep on using. That’s the word that just keeps coming to my mind out of my mouth. I’m trying to keep one foot on the ground,” Wilson told the crowd.
She continued, “We have literally been everywhere, y’all. I have this suitcase. We named him James. James has been all around the world. Poor James is on his last leg. He’s about had it. I think we’re going to have a ceremony for him or something.”
Wilson’s setlist included her hits “Things A Man Oughta Know,” “Heart Like A Truck,” “Dirty Looks” and “Watermelon Moonshine.” The ACM Entertainer of the Year, who proved that her title is well-deserved, also introduced a few new tracks such as “Bell Bottoms Up” and “Good Horses,” both will be featured on her upcoming album, Whirlwind.
Not only is Wilson preparing for the release of her next album, due out on August 23, but she also recently opened the doors to her new honkytonk in downtown Nashville, Bell Bottoms Up. The Whirlwind doesn’t stop there for the 32-year-old, as she is getting inducted as the 229th member of the Grand Ole Opry on June 7.
“With all the craziness, I will say, I have fought like hell to keep one foot on the ground, and that’s been hard at times. I know a lot of y’all have been here from the beginning,” Wilson said. “I have a lot of people in my life who remind me who I am and where I come from. And I know no matter where I go, no matter what I do, no matter where this job takes me, I’m always going to be me. I’m always going to know who I am right here. And I’m always going to find my way back home.“
Wilson’s 2024 Country’s Cool Again Tour will run through the fall with upcoming stops in New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, and Connecticut. Fans can also catch her performing at Nissan Stadium this weekend during CMA Fest.
