Parker McCollum: My Baby Boy Has To ‘Earn It’
Parker McCollum has a great sense of humor but an even better state of mind regarding fatherhood. The country star’s future is looking quite busy in the coming months as he’s expecting his first child, a baby boy, with his wife, Hallie Ray.
While hosting Backstage Country this week, Kelly Ford surprised our host with a very special handmade birthday gift. In the video below, the “Burn It Down” singer jokes that he’s “legitimately nervous” to open the gift.

“I told Hallie Ray, I’m going to put big letters on his ceiling in his nursery that say, ‘earn it.’ And then I’m gonna put, earn it on the back of the passenger seat headrest in my truck. So when he asks, I’m gonna be like, you want it in this world? You gotta earn it,” McCollum said.
He continued, “You want big diaper energy, you gotta work. You have to earn the right to wear this onesie.”
As for McCollum’s chocolate lab, Ruger, he’s ready to be a big brother this coming August. The couple announced the news of “Baby BOY McCollum” back in February on Instagram.
McCollum responded in the comments by suggesting the baby names below for his wife and mother-to-be to choose.

McCollum is currently out on the road for his headlining 2024 Burn It Down Tour with special guests Corey Kent, Larry Fleet, George Birge, and Catie Offerman. Fans can also catch the multi-platinum singer-songwriter when he performs his current single, “Burn It Down,” at the CMT Awards on Sunday, April 7.

In fact, singer Kelly Clarkson named her daughter River Rose. People reported that Clarkson came about the name because River is her mother’s maiden name. “We were outside on our balcony, and we both looked at each other and were like, ‘What about River? That’s kind of cool,’” the singer told the outlet.

Someone commented on their report and said “We liked that it couldn’t be shortened and it was gender neutral. It’s also not a very common name.”

Dahlia
The name Dahlia is a girl’s name of Scandinavian origin, meaning “Dahl’s flower,” according to NameBerry. The flower was named in honor of the pioneering Swedish botanist Andreas Dahl, which means dale. Apparently, it’s one of the newly popular nature-word names, charting in the U.S. for the first time in 2015 for both genders. Interestingly, Briar-Rose is from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Little Briar-Rose” commonly known as Sleeping Beauty. So, it could be a great name for those wanting to capture nature and fairytale vibes.
