Dan + Shay Share Their Vision Behind “Save Me The Trouble”
Dan + Shay‘s lead single, “Save Me The Trouble,” featured on their fifth studio album, Bigger Houses, has been on repeat for me for quite a few months now. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney of the country duo are now giving us some insight on the track.

While guest-hosting Shawn Parr’s Backstage Country this week, Dan + Shay revealed to Shawn Parr exactly what their vision for the song was. Dan + Shay’s anthemic single will take their live show to the next level based on its ascending melody and the vocals we’ve all come to know and love.
“We’re so proud of this one. I think I like commented on it on social media. I feel like it’s in the top three Dan and Shay songs we’ve ever written and recorded. Something about it. I feel like it’s up there with ‘Speechless’ and ‘Tequila’ and those songs,” Smyers told Parr.
He continued, “But man, Shay puts on one of the most insane vocal performances of all time on this track, and he crushed it on the CMA’s. We haven’t gotten to do the song live a whole lot, but it is obviously a very vocally acrobatic song and it just have my in-ears in every night or take one out and hear him sing that song every night is just mind-blowing. When we wrote it, we kind of had this vision of getting to perform it on the CMAs and have that like Stapleton Timberlake moment, and he just crushed. He did the knee slide and everything.”
