Dolly Parton Joins 1980s Music Stars For ’80 For Brady’ Video
Dolly Parton is part of a brand new music video for the song “Gonna Be You,” which is from the movie soundtrack of 80 For Brady. The new movie stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno. Dolly is joined in the video by other 1980s music icons, Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper, and Belinda Carlisle.
The video shows the four music icons, along with clips from the movie, singing with a football field backdrop, all wearing dazzled Tom Brady Patriot jerseys. Parton is in a dress specially made for the video. As the video ends, the four stars turn around to show their last names, Parton, Lauper, Estefan, and Carlisle, on the jerseys.
Dolly posted a clip of the video to Instagram, writing, “It’s out today! Watch and listen to #GonnaBeYou from the motion picture @80ForBrady! I’m joined by @travels_with_mrs_mason, @CyndiLauper, @GloriaEstefan, and @blondieofficial on this new anthem written by @DianeWarren. I hope you’ll check it out!”
80 For Brady hits movie theaters just in time for the Superbowl (2/12) on February 3, 2023. The movie tells the true story of four 80-something BFFs and New England Patriots fans who make it their mission to watch Tom Brady play in 2017’s Super Bowl LI. But their journey to score tickets is anything but ordinary. Fonda told People about filming the new movie with close friends, “You know, I’ve known Lily for 50 years. I’ve known Sally 40 years, and I just so admire her, and watching her process of creating the character during the course of filming was really special.” Moreno added that mending their skills for 80 for Brady was “like nothing else,” calling her costars “spectacularly special actresses.”
Parton recently told The View that her upcoming Rock Star album would have some rock royalty on it, saying, “I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album. We have great artists like Paul McCartney who will be singing with me and Stevie Nicks. We just finished our song last night. We’ve got John Fogerty, and we’ve got Steve Perry and Steven Tyler. We’ve got a lot of iconic singers that are actually gonna be on with us. So I’m looking forward to it. I’m even gonna have Cher on; we’re getting a song for her. We’ve been trying to get the right thing together, but that’s gonna be a big deal, I think.”
