Thomas Rhett Announces New Album, ‘About A Woman’

Thomas Rhett has officially announced that his seventh studio album is titled About A Woman, following weeks of teasing new music. Last month, the country star introduced his next chapter with his latest single, and the infectious love song, “Beautiful As You.”

“I’m so excited to tell y’all that my 7th album ‘About A Woman’ will be out on August 23rd! I’ve been working on this since last April and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it. I genuinely think this will be y’all’s favorite record of mine. 14 tracks that put a smile on my face – I hope they will do the same for you. Also, “Gone Country” comes out on Friday! Bout to be an awesome summer! #AboutAWoman,” Rhett posted on Instagram.

The 34-year-old commented on the About A Woman trailer below, saying, “Simply put… this album is About A Woman. Think y’all all know who that woman is.” That’s right, all eyes are on Rhett’s wife of 11 years, Lauren Akins.

Rhett’s About A Woman will follow his 2022 album, Where We Started, and the 2023 release of his 20 Number Ones collection, which does not include his most recent No. 1, “Mamaw’s House,” with Morgan Wallen.

The Nashville hitmaker recently joined Backstage Country’s Kelly Ford in studio to give fans some insight on his new music and what’s to come.

“I did this with a with a new batch of producers, a lot of different songwriters. This is the funnest album that I’ve made I think. This is a very, very ‘me’ album. If you liked Tangled Up and Life Changes, Center Point Road, this album is sort of that on steroids to me,” Rhett said.

He continued, “Just kind of got back to the root of why I love to make music and put smiles on faces, and feel joyful, you know, supposed to be fun. So, yeah, we’re dropping a bunch of songs this summer, leading up to the record and playing a bunch of shows.”

22nd Number-One Song

Rhett just celebrated his 22nd number-one song, “Mamaw’s House,” a duet with Morgan Wallen about the guys’ grandmas. The country star found the perfect way to celebrate. Thomas jumped into a pool in Florida alongside his Mamaw. He posted the fun moment on his Instagram.

The Jump

Rhett tells his Mamaw in the sweet video clip, “You’ve got to look in the camera and say ‘Mamaw’s House’ is number one.” The two then jump into the pool’s deep end, and the water goes over both of their heads.

Thomas captioned the video clip, “Celebrating “Mamaw’s House,” going #1 with my Mamaw… thank you, thank you, thank you to country radio, @morganwallen, & my whole team. Love y’all.”

Fans Love It

Many fans reacted to the post, including one who commented, “Thank you for such a wonderful song and it being at the appropriate time. My MaMaw passed away a week ago today, and it’s been the hardest thing I have ever experienced. Your song has such a special meaning to me. @thomasrhettakins.” Another fan said, “I just LOVE this song. From the first moment, I heard it. I hoped it would resonate as much with everyone else as it did with me.” One more fan wrote, “Love this so much. Miss mine every day. Enjoy every moment.”

Mamaws Shaped Us

Rhett said, “Our Mamaws were such a big part of shaping us into the men we are today, so I loved being able to pay tribute to them in this way. God Bless all the Mamaws out there for making us all better people, and thank y’all for loving on them with us!”

Thomas and Morgan Wallen released the song, which they wrote together called “Mamaw’s House” In October. The song was written for the special grandmothers in their lives.

When It Was Released

When it was first released, Rhett posted a video clip of him and Morgan talking about the song on Instagram. Rhett said, “We really just wrote this song about small town piece of paradise. I could remember growing up and going to my mamie’s and my Mamaw’s house, who both lived in South Georgia at the time. I feel like so many life lessons were learned at their house.”

He added, “I feel like you learn hard work. I feel like you learn manners. I feel like you learn respect. This song brings up how our mamaws used to act when we were little kids.”

"Crash and Burn" (2015)
This song was the lead single to Thomas’s second studio album, Tangled Up, and was released to country radio on April 27, 2015. Jesse Frasure and Chris Stapleton wrote the song.

The music video for this infectious song features Rhett, who is dumped by a woman on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge bridge in downtown Nashville. Throughout the video, he pursues her and attempts to win her back, but he fails after she walks off and leaves him in the middle of the street. Rhett told us that the video was shot on his “old stomping grounds from college.”

In an impressive move at one point in the video, he jumps out of the car he is driving and walks beside it as it rolls. He then jumps up on the hood of the unmanned vehicle and continues to sing.
"Marry Me" (2018)
“Marry Me” is a song written by Rhett, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, and Shane McAnally. The song has sold 4 million units by 2021. The song’s subject is a man who watches a desired woman marry someone else.

The music video, which tells the love story of two friends forever, has been viewed a whopping 256 million times on Rhett’s YouTube channel. The incredible video for “Marry Me” won the 2018 CMA Awards for Music Video of the Year. It features Thomas on a chair playing guitar and singing while the story develops around him.
"Remember You Young" (2019)
This video was an ACM Awards’ Video of the Year winner. It was also nominated for CMT Music Awards Video of the Year in 2020. Rhett said of the song he co-wrote, “We wrote this song about the people in life that we love, and always remembering them in their youth, no matter how much time passes and we all change.”

The music video is a sequel to the “Marry Me” music video. In addition to showing Rhett performing the song barefoot in a room full of mirrors, the video centers on the male character from “Marry Me,” now in his elderly years. He goes about his daily routine while remembering moments of his time with the girl, who has passed away, as referred to by the ending shot of him holding an urn.
"Die a Happy Man" - (2015)
This is one of Thomas’s most powerful songs, written for his wife, Lauren. The touching song won awards in 2016 for Song of the Year at both the CMAs and ACMs.

The music video was shot on location on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii while he and his wife were on vacation. Lauren appears throughout the video. The couple dance, ride horses on the beach and walk through the Hawaiian woods in the sweet video that has been viewed more than 277 million times on YouTube.
"Star of the Show" - (2016)
“Star of the Show” was the most-added song at country radio the week of its release and debuted at number 38 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart dated October 15, 2016. It became Rhett’s seventh number-one single.

The creative music video, which shows Thomas performing in an airport hanger, features shots of him merging into his own body at several points in the video. The music video was nominated for 2017’s CMT Music Awards for Video and Male video.
