Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen’s New Ode To Mamaw

Author Nancy Brooks // Country Writer, Beasley Media Group
October 2nd 10:38 AM

Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen have released a song they wrote together called “Mamaw’s House.” The song was written for the special grandmothers in their lives.

Thomas posted a video clip of him and Morgan talking about the song on Instagram. Rhett said, “We really just wrote this song about small town piece of paradise. I could remember growing up and going to my mamie’s and my mamaw’s house, who both lived in South Georgia at the time. I feel like so many life lessons were learned at their house.”

He added, “I feel like you learn hard work. I feel like you learn manners. I feel like you learn respect. This song brings up how our mamaws used to act when we were little kids.”

Wallen said of writing the song, “I was saying how thankful I am for the way that I was raised and brought up, and a lot of that came from my mamaw’s house. Everything kind of revolved around her while she was still here. She was always the first person to ask you if you’re hungry and that kind of thing. You know, she loved taking care of people. So that mixture of toughness and love was just something super special, and I’ve never met another lady like that before.”

Rhett closed the video slip, saying, “We’ve been looking for any excuse to put this song out because we both love it, and we both want our mamaws to hear it, so yeah, this is an ode to all the grandmas out there.”

He captioned the video clip post, “We wrote this song over Zoom a few years ago. Really glad it’s finally out for y’all to hear. Now go call your grandmothers! #mamawshouse #20numberones.”
