Kelley’s new album follows years of success as one half of the duo of Florida Georgia Line and his 2021 passion project, Sunshine State of Mind. Although he has moved on to solo work among many other projects, fans can now hear Kelley’s best vocals yet, and quite literally his Tennessee Truth.
“I had a blast making this record. It means so much to me and I really consider this my debut record. It’s just really about real life. You know, it’s about the life that me and my wife live. I know for a fact that so many other country fans live the same life. You know, where our world revolves around our morals, God, family, country,” Kelley said.
He continued, “Working with Dan Huff as a producer and, you know, one of the goat guitar players, was a dream thing for me to happen, and I’m so grateful he said yes. I love the sound that we created. One of the reasons I wanted to work with Dan, he’s got decades of hits, and he’s worked with so many different artists, groups, bands, female artists, male artists, young, younger, older. What he’s great at is creating a unique sound for each artist. That’s what I wanted and that’s what I think we landed with.”
Kelley says that songwriting is “such a magical thing” to him which is why it was so important for him to take his time on this record. Kelley co-wrote eight of the twelve tracks listed on the album below, including “How We’re Livin’,” “Dirt Road Date Night,” and “Dirt Cheap.”
“I love country music. I’ve been dreaming about making a record like this. It feels great to have my voice out there. And, some great outside songs on this record. They just fit so perfectly and represent who I am and what I love. At the end of the day, you know, one of my biggest Tennessee truths, I have many, is I’m no different than the fans that are going to be listening to this record,” Kelley said.
In the coming weeks, you can also catch Kelley performing at CMA Fest in Nashville as well as Summerfest 2024 in Milwaukee, Watershed Festival, Voices of America Country Music Fest, and the New York State Fair, among other events.
