This week's guest host on Backstage Country is Parker McCollum (April 1-5).

The country singer joins Kelly Ford in the studio all week to discuss his headlining tour, his top hits from his Never Enough album, what he does to stay fit out on the road, and more. Plus, the Backstage Country family even surprises him with the ultimate baby gift for his bundle of joy, due in August.

McCollum is one of the most hardworking gentlemen in the country genre. Over the years, he has won New Male Artist of the Year at the 2022 ACM Awards, opened the Houston Rodeo, and is now preparing to open for George Strait in College Station, Texas.

"I just really care about country music and I grew up that way. I was raised that way, you know, just appreciating songwriters. I was just in love and I was obsessed with it when I was a kid. I'm still in love with it in that way," McCollum said.

He continued, "I try not to get too in my head about stuff, and I really try to reflect afterwards. Being in the moment is very hard for me because it's so much easier said than done. But my whole thing is I just want to go out there and rip, and really perform and sound well, and you want people to walk away being like, yeah, he belongs up there."

McCollum is currently out on the road for his headlining 2024 Burn It Down Tour with special guests Corey Kent, Larry Fleet, George Birge, and Catie Offerman. Fans can also catch the multi-platinum singer-songwriter when he performs his current single, "Burn It Down," at the CMT Awards on Sunday, April 7.

Parker McCollum released a new song today (3/10) from his forthcoming studio album, Never Enough. The new song is called "Speed."

Parker said of the song in a statement, "My song 'Speed' is about my obsession with living fast. Life is always going a hundred miles an hour, and it's important to try and be aware of that and slow things down every now and then."

He adds, "As you get a little further along in life, you start to enjoy the slow and easy life. It takes a little reflection and a little step back from everything to realize how important it is."

Never Enough will be released everywhere on May 12, 2023, and will also feature the lead single "Handle On You," as well as recent releases "Stoned" and "I Ain't Going Nowhere." Fans can pre-order Never Enough on CD and vinyl, with a special signed white vinyl and signed CD exclusively available at ParkerMcCollum.com.

Earlier this week, McCollum participated in the Country Music Hall of Fame's American Currents: State of Music exhibition. The exhibit highlighted the country music landscape over the past year. The exhibit explores musical developments, artist achievements, and notable events determined by the Museum's curators and editorial staff.

Featured artists of the exhibit include McCollum, Wynonna Judd, Elvis Presley, Luke Combs, HARDY, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Jordan Davis, and more. It is open to the public now through February 2024.

As his country music career continues to rise, we look at his last few years in country music.
