Chris Young Says There Was Never A ‘Backup Plan’ To Country Music
Chris Young says that he always knew growing up that music was in his future, no matter where he was or what he was doing.
Young said that back in the day he was doing construction work such as digging post holes, laying bricks, and HVAC to pay for his first couple of independent records. He notes that he hated all of it).
“It was not because the jobs weren’t cool or I didn’t come home and feel like I had accomplished something that day, but mainly I just wasn’t that good at any of them,” Young said. “It’s the sort of jack of all trades, master of none. I had really great bosses that kept me in line.”
Fast forward to now, the country superstar is currently celebrating 18 years with his record label, preparing for his 2024 headlining ‘Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour’ with special guest Bryan Martin in April, and is fresh off the release of his ninth studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights,
The entire album, while a “massive undertaking” in Young’s words, is especially important to him. “It’s something that I’m really glad people get a chance to hear after I’ve had to sit down and live with it for so long. I’m still so proud.”
