Decker first teased the song on Instagram to her followers by having them guess who the mystery male voice was singing along with her on the new single. Together they sing, “If you’re up now, baby, I’m down / You’re the only thing I can think about / I can’t out the lights / ’til I see you tonight.”
“I’ve loved this song for quite some time and wanted to take a shot at recording it,” says Mize. “When I mentioned it to my producer Dan Agee, he said he was aware of the song because Jessie had brought it to him earlier but neither of us had landed on a duet partner. I’ve always thought Jessie was a badass, so that kind of made it a done deal on a duet partner. The writers on this song are top-tier, including our late pal Abe Stoklasa, who wrote my breakthrough single ‘Better Off Gone.'”
“I have always been such a fan of Logan’s voice, and as soon as I heard this demo, written by some of my favorite writers, I knew it was a song I wanted to sing on,” says Decker. “I couldn’t get it out of my head after one listen!”
Mize and Decker’s “If You’re Up” was co-written by Abe Stoklasa, Daniel Tashian, and Sarah Buxton.
The release of “If You’re Up” follows Decker’s 2023 tracks including “(Can’t Do Life) Without You” and “I’m Gonna Love You” as well as Mize’s past two singles, “Out Of State Plates” and “Rural Route Kid.”
