Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” was originally recorded in 1971 and released on his fourth studio album, Poems, Prayers & Promises. Brandi Carlile and Lana Del Rey are the most recent artists to also release a cover of the song. Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert, and Denver wrote the classic.
Before returning to his roots and releasing his cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Dover released his EP Never Giving Up On That back in September. The eight-song collection featured his first official single, “Giving Up On That,” “Dirt Roads and Jesus,” and a cover of “If I Ain’t Got You.”
The singer-songwriter and his impeccable talent continue to do great things. However, nothing will ever quite top the day he made his Grand Ole Opry debut. You can watch that clip here.
“I never thought in a million years that I’d be standing right here in this circle,” Dover shared in a press statement. “I brought my family last year, and we walked through on the tour here at the Opry. Little did I know that a year later, I’d be making my Opry debut. It’s pretty special to say the least.”
Dover will embark on his first headlining Never Giving Up On That Tour, which kicks off on February 23 in Oxford, Mississippi. He will also be traveling as a supporting act on dates for Larry Fleet’s 2024 The Earned It Tour.
