Scott’s “Can’t Have Mine” is the second track to go No. 1 from his sophomore album, Livin’ My Best Life, following his previous single, “New Truck.” The 33-year-old’s first-ever No. 1, “My Girl,” came from his self-titled debut project in 2017.
Scott posted a video to his social media accounts sharing the news with his adorable children: his son, Beckett, and his daughter, Finley Gray. They individually replied, “Good,” while Scott shouted, “It’s freaking great!”
The country hitmaker has since released a stripped-down acoustic version of the track, “Can’t Have Mind (Find You A Girl).” The song which he co-wrote alongside Matt Alderman, Josh Melton, and Dallas Wilson, pays tribute to his real-life romance with his wife, Blair.
Earlier this month, Scott posted to Instagram, “MAN! “Can’t Have Mine” is officially a PLATINUM RECORD!!!! 1,000,000 SOLD!!! Thank you to everyone who has been listening since DAY ONE! #riaatopcertified.”
The lyrics include, “Find you a girl that leaves you speechless / Gets wild on the town but still loves Jesus / One that’s worth the wait even when she ain’t on time / Find you a girl that loves her daddy / And talkin’ ’bout babies makes her happy / Yeah, take it from me, that’s the kind you need to find / You just can’t have mine.”
Most recently, Scott teamed up with fellow singer-songwriter Dylan Marlowe for a track titled “Boys Back Home.” Marlowe asked Scott to join him for the song after he enlisted him for his first tour.
Scott is gearing up for his final three tour dates of the year on his headlining ‘This Town’s Been Too Good To Us’ Tour in Portland, Maine (11/30), Boston, Massachusetts (12/1), and Sayreville, NJ (12/2) with special guests Matt Schuster and Tayler Holder.
“Can’t Have Mine” is officially the #1 song in America! Thank you Jesus!!
