Ticket sales for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film have set some impressive records in less than 24 hours since going on sale. Swift surprised her fans with the announcement that The Eras Tour Concert Film would be shown in North American theaters this fall. She shared her excitement on social media, stating, ” Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America!” She added, “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk)”

AMC Entertainment reported that Thursday’s ticket sales for Swift’s film reached an impressive $26 million, setting a new record for the century-old company. The previous highest single-day ticket sales record was held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” with $16.9 million in sales.

CNBC reported that IMAX has already sold out over 250 screenings and is exceeding expectations in presales. The company told CNBC that it is achieving presale percentages comparable to those seen for blockbuster tentpole features.

Swift’s concert film documents her popular tour, which had been generating millions in revenue and was on track to break the historic $1 billion mark in sales earlier in the summer.

“The Exorcist” premiere date gets bumped

After Swift announced that her Eras Tour show was going to the big screen, a major movie decided to shake things up and change its premiere date.

The Exorcist: Believer, the next movie in The Exorcist franchise’s sequel trilogy, was supposed to be released on October 13th. But with Swift’s Eras Tour Film coming out that same day, they moved up the premiere by a whole week. Jason Blum, the founder of the indie horror production company Blumhouse, posted yesterday, “Look what you made me do.” And he wrapped it up with the amusing and spot-on hashtag: “#TaylorWins.”

Certainly, this move generated some hilarious responses. One person commented on the post with “I was digging #TheExorswift though,” with an “Exorswift” fan poster. Another chimed in with, “To all Swifties, let’s go watch both! ”

Speak Now, Taylor’s Version is finally here and there is merch to be had!

Taylor Swift is re-recording all of the albums she released under her previous record label “Big Machine” after it was taken over by music executive Scooter Braun (Kanye West’s former manager). Here’s why that was a problem for Taylor. In the fall of 2018, Taylor and Big Machine parted ways amicably and Taylor signed with Republic, a division of Universal Music Group. By taking over Big Machine, Scooter Braun now owns the rights to all of the masters of music made by Taylor when she was with that label. That means Braun not only makes money every time one of the songs from those albums is played or featured, but he has the right to do with those songs what he will and Taylor has no control.

Taylor’s point of view is this: if she created the music, she should get to keep the rights. Makes sense, but that’s not how the business works. So in an effort to reclaim what’s hers, Taylor has had to re-record every song from every album and re-release them into the universe with the hopes that fans will now only listen to “Taylor’s Versions” instead of the originals.

That effort takes time, so now we’re up to the re-release of Speak Now, this time “Taylor’s Version” and her fans are ready for it. If you’re one of them, let’s celebrate by investing in some really cool items that commemorate the album as well as individual songs.
