Tim McGraw Tells His Actress Daughters To ‘Persevere’
Tim McGraw has three adult daughters, two of whom are pursuing careers in the entertainment business. Tim’s music career spans over 30 years, and he made his acting debut on The Jeff Foxworthy Show over 25 years ago. He and his wife Faith Hill, who also acts, have some advice for their daughters.
McGraw told us, “You know, Audrey’s an actor, Gracie’s an actor/singer. She’s working on auditions for Broadway. And all we can tell them is, ‘Look, you’re gonna get a lot of no’s in this business. This business is more no’s than it is yes, but you try to learn from every audition you have, every door that’s shut. You try to learn from it, and you just try to persevere and try to gain experience from it.”
McGraw, the son of MLB great Tug McGraw, recently looked forward to Major League Baseball’s opening day last week (3/30). While doing interviews for his new song “Standing Room Only,” Tim talked about his fave sport and what he likes to eat when he goes to the ballpark.
McGraw said his favorite ballpark food may surprise some as he is a health food guy. “Oh, I gotta have a hot dog or two or three. Yeah, I love hot dogs, especially a good chili dog, if I can find it.” Tim’s dad Tug, who passed away in 2004, played the first half of his MLB pitching career with the New York Mets and the second half of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Earlier this month, McGraw unveiled his new single “Standing Room Only.” The new song is the title track from his forthcoming 17th studio album, due later this year on Big Machine Records.
Tim said of the new song, “‘Standing Room Only’ caught my ear the first time I heard it because of its message. For me, this song is so positive and life-affirming. It isn’t about the funeral or the procession; it’s about how we live in the here and now. How do we push ourselves, and in which direction do we push ourselves?”
He added, “For me, it’s a reminder to live a life filled with gratitude and not take things for granted. Also, it’s a reminder to give back and be there for others.”
