Luke Bryan Learned To Have Fun Early In Life
Luke Bryan and his wife always seem to be smiling and having fun, whether doing work or just hanging out with their sons at home. As Luke told us recently, that fun atmosphere started at his childhood home in Georgia.
Bryan said, “I grew up in a fun household with a lot of different friends and family and a lot of personalities coming in and out. A lot of laughs, a lot of jokes, a lot of love, a lot of forgiveness, and a lot of fights and arguments. We always knew when the parents were mad at each other. We lay it all out there as a family, and that’s the main thing.”
Luke has carried that straightforwardness to his own sons, “A lot of time when we’re having family dinner, we’ll sit down, and we’ll make the boys, and everybody will get a turn and say what’s the best part of your day, and what’s the worst part of your day. It’s a fun little thing we do at dinner. I think the boys see that, and children gravitate to their parents, and when they see the parents having fun, walking around smiling and happy, living life this certain way, I think that sets the tone for what they’re gonna be one day. The main thing for me is just to be a positive dad for them, be a fun dad, be a stern dad, let them know when they’re doing right and wrong.”
He added, “Everything around my world is pretty much designed for fun, whether in the woods fishing, or hunting or golfing, or whatever. We try to let all the people around us… It all starts with fun.”
Bryan is back as a judge on ABC’s new season of American Idol. Before the show got underway, Luke talked to us about what he had learned from being on the popular show. Bryan recently told us, “I think being in front of a TV camera so much makes you more aware of a lot more things. It’s like a resume builder. I’ve got five years of sitting in front of a television camera to where you learn what works and what doesn’t. You learn how to engage with people. You learn how to not get yourself in too big of trouble, and you learn there’s a fine line between doing it right and doing it wrong. Yeah, I’ve learned a lot from American Idol.”
He added, “But then I learned you still got to go and work hard because there is a lot of talent out there in the world, and you don’t ever need to take your talent for granted because so many people dream of this life.”
