Kacey Musgraves Celebrates ‘Deeper Well’ Album Release In Nashville
Kacey Musgraves released her fifth studio album, Deeper Well, on Friday (3/15). That same day, she performed the 14-track collection in its entirety for fans at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

“It’s the first time we’re exchanging energy with other humans listening to these songs and they came out today, which is crazy. You may not know all the words yet, but you can pretend. I love the Ryman. It’s one of my favorite rooms, and it’s definitely hallowed ground.”
Musgraves also took a moment to thank her team at Interscope Records, MCA Nashville, her entire band, the crew, her little sister (who shot the album covers), Mackenzie Moore (the designer of the merchandise, and vinyl), and her glam team.
As the 35-year-old continued down the track list throughout the evening, she shared several stories behind her newly released music. Musgraves even shed a few tears while describing her journey over the last few years up until now.
“It’s so trippy that the song starts off from a little seed of an idea to make its way onto paper. They get recorded, then, you know, they make their way to you, and you guys attach your own heartstrings to them. It’s just special,” Musgraves said.
Musgraves then addressed the crowd and spoke on the recording process of her new album. Most of Deeper Well was recorded at Electric Lady studios in New York City, which she says is “pretty magical.”
“It just has the best mojo in the world. I think we just felt really inspired to go there,” Musgraves said.
She continued, “And New York is crazy because it’s a small place geographically, but then there’s like millions of humans, kind of stacked on top of each other. So it’s all this magnified emotion and language and culture and colors and sight and smells and it’s just really, really inspiring.”
She ended her album release show by bringing out a surprise guest, Noah Kahan. Together they performed “She Calls Me Back.”
Not only did Musgraves sound amazing, but she also truly presented what Deeper Well is all about. Plus, she announced that for every ticket sold, there will be a tree planted in Nashville by the Cumberland River Compact to “give some roots back to the city as it continues to grow.”
