The 47-year-old Nashville hitmaker is one of a kind and is highly praised all across the music industry. Lindsey has written songs for Underwood (“Jesus Take The Wheel”) and Urban (“Blue Ain’t Your Color”), as well as Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” Lady A’s “American Honey,” Sara Evans’ “A Little Bit Stronger,” Taylor Swift’s “Fearless,” and so many more.
Underwood won the Grammy for ‘Best Female Country Vocal Performance’ in 2007 for Lindsey’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” and Urban received a nomination in the ‘Best Country Solo Performance’ category in 2017. They both took the stage in New York City to perform their respective hits for those in attendance at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala.
“Had the best night celebrating Hillary Lindsey and many other incredible songwriters and artists last night at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame 2024 Induction & Awards Gala! It was so cool to have so many genres represented in one place! And, of course, being there for my girl, Hillary, was a true joy! There is no one who deserves it more! I am SO proud of my friend and cowriter for the mark she has made on music and I am beyond blessed to have learned so much from her over the years. Cheers to Hillary and to all the inductees!!! @songwritershof #HillaryLindsey #SHOF2024,” Underwood posted on Instagram.
Lindsey was inducted alongside fellow songwriters including Timothy Mosley (otherwise known as hip-hop producer/songwriter Timbaland), Dean Pitchford, R.E.M. members Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe and Steely Dan members Donald Fagen and Walter Becker.
