Lainey Wilson Has a Lot of Necks To Hug This Weekend
Lainey Wilson has a busy day ahead of her and actually a big weekend as she plays CMA Fest at Nissan Stadium on Saturday (6/8). Tonight (6/7), she will be inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry and will perform after her induction ceremony on the Opry stage.
Lainey is also managing to get some face-to-face time with fans, as she will be signing autographs at her new bar in downtown Nashville.
She posted her to-do list on her Instagram, along with photos of herself meeting fans. She captioned the post, “It feels like Christmas Eve y’all!! #CMAfest is my favorite time of the year, and the best part is getting to meet you and hug y’all’s necks. So that’s what we’re gunna do come Sunday, June 9!”
Wilson continued, “I’m opening up the @bellbottomsupbar doors and holding a special all-day signing affair starting at 1 pm. Get there early and be ready to stay late ’cause y’all know I have some special surprises up my sleeve.”
Lainey’s two-and-a-half million Instagram fans were overjoyed with the news. One fan wrote, “I just have so much love and respect for you.” Another fan commented, “I’ve got my 5 year old daughters birthday guitar that I’d love to get signed. She’s an insane fan, even at 5!! @bellbottomsupbar.” One more die-hard said, “Can’t wait. Love you so much, sister.” Many fans posted hearts, and the post was liked almost thirty-five thousand times.

Wilson has met a lot of country legends, but one that she hasn’t met is Tim McGraw. Weirdly, the two have a connection that goes way back. In a new sit-down interview with country icon Garth Brooks, Lainey said of McGraw, who is also a native of her home state of Louisianna, “Tim grew up right down the road from me. My step-grandmother used to actually babysit him. But I’ve never met Tim.”
She hails from Baskin, Louisiana, and McGraw is a native of Start, Louisiana. Wilson and Brooks also touched on her influence in country music, and talked about the impact that ’90s country had on her.
When he asked her who her musical heroes were, she didn’t name-check him. Instead, she shared her love for Dolly Parton. She said, in part, “She’s one of the people that I go to that I’m like, man, how has she—she’s done it all.” She added that Parton has kept songwriting “the main focus,” but she has not been scared to step outside the box and try new things.
