Thomas Rhett Has Been Going To CMA Fest His Whole Life
Thomas Rhett closes out the opening night of CMA Fest at Nissan Stadium on Thursday night (6/6) in Nashville.
The son of a 1990s country star (Rhett Akins), Thomas has been going to CMA Fest, or what used to be called Fan Fair, all of his life. He told us, “I grew up going to this festival back when it was called Fan Fair. So I’ve been going to this thing for a long time, and obviously, coming to watch this all four nights at the stadium is a must.”
He added, “Now I would say that every artist that you love has their own bar now. So basically, pick your favorite artist and go to their bar.”
As a lifer, Rhett has some good advice for what to do during this crazy week in Nashville, “Go watch artists that you love in a different facet other than the stadium. You know, if they’re doing a fan club party or if they’re doing a writer’s round.”
He concluded, “That’s always interesting to me to watch my favorite artists go play stripped down rather than in here. And we’re starting to get some of the best food in America right now, so go eat some Hattie B’s, I guess.”

Rhett recently released an infectious new love song, “Beautiful As You.” The high-energy anthem features quick-hitting lyrics, representing the first taste of Thomas’s upcoming seventh studio album, which will be released on August 23.
He said of the new song, “This is an anthem for everybody who feels like they out-kicked their coverage. There was one day a couple years back when I was looking at my wife, and I was like, ‘Why in the world did you choose me?'”
Thomas continued, “I get to be with someone who could easily be on the cover of a magazine, and I get to see her in all her forms – a partner, a mother, a friend, even a philanthropist. I just feel like I’ve got a first row seat at almost-perfection, if you will. And like the song says, ‘Seriously, what is somebody as amazing as you doing with somebody like me?'”
He concluded, “Lauren and I are just in a different phase of life than we have been for a while. Now it’s a little easier to go on date nights, do stuff with friends, stay up a little bit later.”
