Dierks Bentley: Mothers Have ‘The Toughest Job’
Dierks Bentley knows how hard mothers work all over the world to keep the family together and make things happen. As Mother’s Day approaches on Sunday (5/12), Dierks shared some thoughts with us.
He told us, “It’s the toughest job out there being a mom, and I know from my life with my wife Cassidy. We work as a team together when I’m home, and it takes everyone to get the job done, me and her, working together.”
Bentley continued, “So when I go on the road, I just have so much respect for her because it’s hard to do it right if you want to do it great, and she does a great job with it. It’s really rewarding, but it’s also very challenging.”

The country star and father of three concluded. “I’m so thankful that she takes it on the way she does, and our kids are very lucky to have her.”
Dierks and Cassidy, who are sweethearts from high school, have been married for 18 years; they have three kids: two teenage girls and a son named Knox, who is nine.

Bentley is one of many country stars who are part of a Tom Petty tribute album called Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty.
“Surreal”
Dierks recently released the music video for his cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl.” In the new video, the country star straps on and plays Petty’s signature Rickenbacker guitar that was flown in from the late rock star’s archives in California for the shoot.
Bentley said of the music video, “Holding an instrument that carries so much musical history and significance was surreal; you could almost feel the stories resonate from it as I played it. Tom Petty’s lyrics and delivery were a huge part of what made his music so impactful.”
The official track list and release date for Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty will be announced soon. The album will also feature covers of Petty songs by George Strait, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.
“American Girl” was the last song performed in concert by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They played it to close out the encore of their performance on September 25, 2017, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, the final concert of their 40th Anniversary Tour.
The rock star died of complications from cardiac arrest after an accidental prescription medication overdose on October 2, 2017.
