Evans’ podcast debuted on Thursday (3/21) with the first episode titled “The Whole Truth,” where she opened up about her relationship with her husband, Jay Barker, among other personal stories. The 53-year-old addresses their separation, Barker’s domestic violence arrest, and their reconciliation.
“He was always my biggest cheerleader in my music career. But I don’t think that came without challenges for him,” Evans said on Diving In Deep With Sara Evans.
She continued, “He became addicted, I would say, to being the boss of me. Wanting to control me.”
As for Evans’ new era of music, she introduced the Unbroke collection this week with the lead single, “Pride,” co-written by Madi Diaz and Sean McConnell. It is the first to come following her 2020 album, Copy That, featuring “If I Can’t Have You.”
“Thank you to everyone who has been involved… all the writers, engineers, musicians, there will be many more thank yous to come over the next few months… we are just getting started,” Evans posted on Instagram.
Evans is currently headlining ‘Sara Evans: Live On Tour’ with dates coming up in Greenville, Texas, Lakeland, Florida, Gainesville, Georgia, and Auburn, Alabama. She will also be performing at Live In The Vineyard Goes Country in Napa Valley, California in April.
