ββDamn Near Normalβ is a song about this lifestyle that is anything but,β reflects Wetzel. βWaking up somewhere new on the road every day, up playing music all hours of the night with our fansβ¦ this is a wild ride weβre on that looks totally different than most peopleβs βnormalβ β¦ but I wouldnβt have it any other way.β
Wetzel co-wrote “Damn Near Normal” alongside Gabe Simon, Amy Allen, Carrie Karpinen, and Sam Harris. The track follows the platinum-selling artist’s 2022 album, Hell Paso, featuring “Creeps,” and “Better Without You,” among other hits.
Last week, the singer-songwriter celebrated “Koe Wetzel Day” at the Riot Room, his very own venue in Forth Worth, Texas, in honor of his song “February 28, 2016.”
Wetzel sings, βReal job, good wife, two kids / Donβt know what exit I missed / And this road Iβm on, is kinda dark alone,β he sings in the bare-truths songβs open. βFake job, no wife, no kids / Canβt believe Iβm living like this.β
Wetzel received comments on the song via Instagram from fellow country artists, including Parker McCollum, “Talented is a massive understatement,” Kolby Cooper, “S%@! is bananas,” Ernest, “This is all true. I’ve seen it,” and many more.
In 2023, Wetzel sold over 275,000 tickets while on tour and will continue traveling across North America this year.
In 2024, the powerhouse performer will perform at festivals such as Rock The Country, Country Thunder, and Watershed, select headlining dates, as well as Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time Tour stop in Arlington, Texas.
