Michael Ray Says Meghan Patrick “Offers So Much” To Country Music
When it came time to find a female voice for Michael Ray‘s latest single, “Spirits And Demons,” the singer-songwriter knew he wanted to keep it in the country music family.
As someone he’s known for years and has always been a big fan of, Meghan Patrick was the name in the room that had everyone talking.
For Ray, Patrick was the one who “brought the song to life” and where it needed to be. The song is featured on his 2023 EP, Dive Bars And Broken Hearts.
“I don’t think we’ve ever sang together even on the same stage but I’ve always been a big fan of hers. I think she’s a natural talent. I think she offers so much to the genre of country music,” Ray said.
He continued, “And what I love most about her is she’s so authentic. Like when you see her on stage, that’s who she is off stage. You know, where she naturally just sings her a– off. We needed somebody who could deliver that lyric because that lyric is so strong, but also has that powerhouse vocal, and she has both.”
Ray took some time to also reflect on the stories his fans have approached him with since releasing the track with Patrick. He says the song has helped many of them heal while also connecting with him on a new level.
Together Ray and Patrick sing, “Spirits and demons won’t bring no healin’ / ain’t no miracle at the bottom of the bottle I’m drinkin’ / it’s just a buzz on a broken heart barely beatin’ / gas on a fire mix it whiskey and you leavin’ / spirits and demons.”
Ray’s “Spirits And Demons” with Patrick was co-written by Ashley Veltz Cruz, Michael Tyler, and Alexander Palmer, and produced by Michael Knox. Since its release, they’ve finally had the opportunity to hit the stage together for the very first time at Nashville’s own, The 5 Spot.
