According to the CMT website, “Johnson and his family invite viewers into their family traditions, share their favorite holiday memories and Johnson performs an assortment of timeless Christmas songs.”
Johnson previously released his first-ever Christmas album back in 2021 titled A Cody Johnson Christmas. The ten-track collection features holiday classics such as “Silent Night” and “Feliz Navidad” as well as originals “Christmas All Year Long” and “Hat Made Of Mistletoe.”
The news of the Christmas special presented by CMT follows the release of Johnson’s eighth studio album, Leather. The new project includes the Warner Music Nashville Platinum artist’s smash single, “The Painter.”
Johnson performed “The Painter” for the first time live last month during the 57th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville and was in attendance as the nominee for Male Vocalist of the Year.
Before the show for CoJo Nation, Johnson held a charity golf tournament in which he said, “We’re benefiting several charities, but it’s a 100% payback to charity. It’s a golf tournament, raise a ton of money. And that night I play a [show, then] fly home and then I’m going to fly back on the 13th and I rope on the 14th, 15, 16, 17.” Johnson will kick off his headling 2024 ‘The Leather Tour‘ in January with special guests Justin Moore, Chris Janson, and Dillon Carmichael on select dates.
