Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Philip Sweet of Little Big Town released “Better Man” on October 20, 2016. It was the lead single on the country group’s eighth studio album, The Breaker.
The group made the official announcement on who had written the song live from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee during a Facebook live. Little Big Town’s “Better Man” was written by Taylor Swift. In fact, it was the first song she ever pitched to another artist.
“Better Man” is a powerful ballad that can bring out feelings of any kind while you’re listening to it. Little Big Town performed the No. 1 hit at the 2018 GRAMMY Awards. That year, they took home the Best Country Duo / Group Performance award.
Little Big Town’s recording of “Better Man” led to Swift winning the CMA Awards for Song of the Year in 2017. A few years later, she released “Better Man” (Taylor’s Version From The Vault). That recordings was included on her Red (Taylor’s Version) album.
Over the years, Little Big Town showcased their beautiful harmonies with performances at the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, Grammys, and CMA Fest, among many other stages. Swift even stopped by The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville to perform it once before.
Most recently, while on the road for her 20223 ‘The Eras Tour,” Swift performed “Better Man” as the surprise song during her set at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
As a Swiftie myself and someone who has been a fan of Little Big Town for years, I still hope to one day see them perform “Better Man” live together on a stage somewhere.
