Blake Shelton Will ‘Step Up’ At Ole Red In Oklahoma On Friday
Blake Shelton posted on his Insta stories over a black background earlier this week, “Hey people! I’m thinking about doing something at @OleRed Tishomigo later this week. Not a big deal at all but just maybe play a few songs. I’ll send an update for all in a day or so.”
Blake has now posted to Instagram an update for fans in Oklahoma that he will indeed be playing some songs. He wrote in a note, “Okay y’all, here’s the deal 7:30 pm this Friday, I’m gonna step up and play 30 minutes or so acoustically; then I’m gonna turn the stage over to a debut artist that will be doing his VERY FIRST public performance!”
He added, “See you @Olered Tishomingo Doghouse! You never know who else may show up… (googly eyes emoji).”
Many fans reacted to the post, including one who wrote, “Wow, wee fun stuff & you rock BS!” Another fan said, “Tish is about to look like Dallas, Texas.”

While we don’t know who he will introduce, it will certainly help the “debut artist” Shelton is referring to on his path to a career in music. One country icon helped Blake when he was just starting to make a name for himself in Nashville. He told me in an interview in 2011, the same year he started doing NBC’s The Voice, what Reba McEntire did for him early in his Nashville career. He said at the time, “The ACM announcements/ nominees three years ago (2009), way before they were asking me to host, she agreed to go. Reba doesn’t do this [type of thing]; she agreed to be on CBS’ Early Morning Show to announce the nominees for the ACMs if they would let me be on there with her. Normally they send a couple of new baby acts to go do that because nobody wants to wake up that early and go do that, but Reba did that for me.”
He added, “If there’s ever a time she can lend a hand, she’s always been that for me.”
