There's a new champion on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. Morgan Wallen has now grabbed the record for most weeks at No. 1 with 174 weeks, beating Garth Brooks' 173-week streak that held strong for three decades.
Wallen reached this milestone with only three studio albums in five years. His newest album, One Thing at a Time, has owned the top spot for 75 weeks since coming out in March 2023.
The journey to this record looks completely different for these two stars. While Brooks needed 17 albums, starting with No Fences in 1990, Wallen broke the record with just three albums since 2018.
Getting his start as a contestant on The Voice\ in 2014, the Tennessee native caught Big Loud Records' eye. His first song, "The Way I Talk," came out in 2017.
If I Know Me started Wallen's amazing run in 2018. Every release since has grown his following, leading to this week's record-breaking moment.
Dangerous: The Double Album launched him into superstardom. It topped the Billboard 200 for seven weeks straight, earned Grammy nominations, and made him a household name.
His success shows no signs of slowing down. His next album, I'm the Problem, comes out this year, and the preview tracks have already seen success.
During Brooks' peak, hits like "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls" were constantly played on the radio. His high-energy shows and huge album sales helped country music soar in the '90s.
Even controversy couldn't stop Wallen's rise. When a racial slur incident hit the news in 2021, Wallen's chart success and fan support stayed solid.
