Lainey Wilson is back as this week’s Backstage Country co-host. Aside from playing awesome country music, she’ll be dishing about her dream proposal, whether she’s down to do a NFL Halftime show, and what she thinks of the artists switching to country music.

Lainey Wilson’s Dream Proposal

She’s got two songs about getting hitched on her Whirlwind album. “I think it’s just as long as it's simple and it's about what it's supposed to be about at the end of the day. We're always around lots of people. I think it just needs to be just us.”

Speaking about her boyfriend, ex-NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, she said, “Well, I mean, he's still a big Ole Steelers fan because he just loves the team. He loves the people in the town he loves. I mean, they treated him right. And I think you always kind of feel like there's a special place in his heart.”

Wilson also shared Hodges is teaching him about the sport. “We like watching the game. He's trying to teach it. He'll be like, ‘That means touchdown, that means all fans, that flag means this and that.’” Ford admitted she still got confused about the game. Wilson agreed and admitted, “I mean, the truth is, I'm there for the beer and the snacks.”

Is she ready to do a halftime show? Wilson eagerly replied, “I'm ready for the Super Bowl!”

Welcoming Artists to Country Music

Wilson talked about other artists making the switch to country music like Beyoncé and Post Malone and what she thought of that. “My parents raised me to make everybody feel welcome. It takes a lot more effort to not be supportive, cheering and rooting somebody and send weird vibes their way. So that just ain't what I want to do and it's a really cool thing to see how many people they've brought to the genre.”

She added, “Of course we've got our hard-core country music fans and listeners who have been on this train from the beginning, just like I have. But they're introducing this genre and the storytelling to a lot of people that maybe thought ‘I didn't like country music to begin with.’ And I think it's cool. I mean, country music is my life, and I want people to experience the way that country music makes me feel, too. I want everybody to have that feeling. So hats off Post and Beyonce, and all of them.”
