Jimmy Fallon asked Kenny Chesney when he appeared on his Tonight Show last night (1/16) about his early connection to Taylor Swift, which Taylor talked about in last year's Person of the Year Time magazine piece.

Kenny shared a funny story with Fallon. He said, "She was a kid. We booked Taylor to go out on the road with us, this was several years ago (2009), obviously. But, that summer, my tour was sponsored by a beer company and they came to us right before the tour started and said, 'We can't have a minor on the tour.' So, I had to call Taylor personally and tell her she couldn't go on tour with me, which now seems absurd, right? So, I called her, told her she couldn't go on the road, but I felt terrible cause she was gonna lose some money, so I gave her a specific amount of money, it was quite a bit of money, cause I wanted to make it up to her."

Chesney continued, "Later that year, we were both nominated for CMA Entertainer of the Year that's how hot she was. So, she won. Backstage, I went up to her and gave her a big hug. I said, 'Congratulations, but give me my money back.' That's a true story."

Kenny Chesney Is Playing The Sphere

Kenny is known for his incredible live shows and he will bring his brand of American music to Sphere in Las Vegas.

Chesney said in a statement, "I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music. Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more."

He continued, “When we started talking about all of the possibilities playing Sphere offered, I was all in. Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound, and being together. To me, this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait."
