4 Interesting Facts About Jackson Dean
Backstage Country’s Kelly Ford, along with the rest of us, has gotten to know Jackson Dean while co-hosting with him. We’ve learned that he’s a knife collector, he’s got a big dog who goes with him almost everywhere, and what he’d be doing if he weren’t a country music artist.
His Knife Collection
Dean shared that he has had a collection since he was a kid. “I’ve loved them,” he also used to make them. “When I got older and started using my dad’s tools, you know, coal roll steals Lee Springs and never made one out of rebar. But I always want to make one out of rebar.” Being a busy country music artist, does he still have time for this hobby? Dean mentioned that his brother built a forge months ago and that he’s been trying to use it as well.
He admitted that for the past five years, he always had a knife on him on every show he played in. “They’re beautiful tools. They are beautiful tools that are really beautiful works of art.” Ford remarked how cool it is when a guy just whipped a knife. She asked him if there was an instance when he had a knife on him when he shouldn’t have. Dean chuckled, “I’ve had to relinquish. I’ve had to hand over a few pieces to TSA.”
Jackson Dean If He Wasn’t a Country Music Artist
Ford asked Dean what he would be doing if he was not making country music. Dean straight up answered, “I’d be in exile. It is this or nothing for me. You know, they say burn every bone, right? That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still know how to build one. But if I didn’t, I’d probably be Jeremiah Johnson-ing it somewhere.”
Who He Dreams of Working With
Having started early in the industry, Ford inquired what Jackson Dean would look like 20 or 30 years in the future. “Free as I am now, more work than I can handle,” Dean said. Ford followed up with who he dreamed of working with. “You know the men who work for me now? I’ve been with Sean, now my drummer, for ten years, pretty much ten years. He did my first ever record ever, any time, like the very first time I sat in a booth.”
He added, “To be surrounded by people that I love and to take care of the people that I love, take care of my man. You know that matters to me. But yeah, cranking out records, being a dang rock star, baby, let’s go.”
He Named His Dog Elk
Being a country boy to the bones, Dean shared that his dog’s name is Elk. “Yeah, he looks like a big boy. From far off and you see him, you’re like, that’s a big dog.”
