This Week’s Backstage Country Host: Luke Bryan
Following the release of his latest album, Mind of a Country Boy, Luke Bryan joined Kelly Ford on Backstage Country as co-host, bringing all the stories behind his latest album, the inspiration behind his songs, and of course, plenty of country music.
Luke Bryan Before the Fame
Ford said that Bryan’s song “Country Song Came On” feels like the most relatable song on the album. Bryan shared how he loved it and described it as a “classic honky tonk song.” He reminisced about his early days, long before becoming an American Idol judge in 2018, “Entertainer of the Year” awardee by both the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Country Music Association and one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He says he “grew up playing in little neon-lit bars for a long time, certainly back when I was 18, 19, even into my mid-twenties, playing in these neon bars and the dusty armadillos of the world.”
Mind of a Country Boy
Ford asked Bryan about the delay in releasing new music. “Well, it’s been a while. It’s been around four years.” He explained, “Doing American Idol and then I took the Vegas residency, those were big time constraints on me and all the while still touring and still putting out singles and a little bit of music here and there. But to put out a full, long album just happened.”
Bryan knew how his fans had been waiting for new music. “I’ve been in the studio. Every 3 or 4 months recording 5 or 6 songs the whole time. But now we just felt like it was all the right time, and it was getting a little too long in between albums.” He admitted, “I was really happy where the songs came together and what they say about where I’m at, about where I am in my life right now. And yeah, we’re happy to have them out and it’s good to have them out.”
Luke Bryan in His Fun Era
Ford noticed Bryan seemed to be having fun and was now in his funny era. “I mean, my thing now is enjoying touring, enjoy making music, being home with my kids and my family and enjoy my hobbies and really wake up every day with a fun mindset of today’s a great day.” He added, “and not get bogged down in reading Instagram comments.”
Catch Luke Bryan all week long in Backstage Country from September 30 to October 04, 2024.
