Morgan Wallen Gives Back To His Baseball League
Ahead of current 7-time CMA Award nominee Morgan Wallen’s return to his hometown – with two nights slated at University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Neyland Stadium tomorrow (Sept. 20) and Sunday (Sept. 22) – The Morgan Wallen Foundation (MWF) donated $140,000 to Gibbs Youth Sports.
During a press briefing held at Neyland Stadium, MWF Executive Director, Kathleen Flaherty and MWF Program Director and Wallen’s mother, Lesli Wallen, presented a check to Gibbs Youth Sports (GYS) President Nate Stachey, and Baseball Commissioner William Lynam to renovate Ruritan Park.
Lesi Wallen (Morgan’s mom) said, “Being a baseball mom, this is very special to me that my son is able to give back to the community that blessed us so much and that he played sports in. I walk up there sometimes at the Gibbs Youth Sports Ruritan Park, and I see how in disrepair the park is. So, we started conversations asking what we can do to make this park a better park – and a special place – for our kids to be proud to go to.”
Ruritan Park serves students from Gibbs High School, where Wallen attended, and surrounding areas in Knox County. Gibbs Youth Sports (GYS) has had a fieldhouse for several years. Due to a lack of funds, it has never been built to serve youth’s sports needs.

Wallen returned stateside a few weeks ago following the European leg of “One Night At A Time 2024.” The current seven-time CMA Award nominee’s run concludes with 91,423 fans across seven shows, including sold-out stops in Oslo, Norway; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Glasgow, U.K., and two consecutive nights in Dublin, Ireland. Additionally, Wallen’s performance at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome became the highest-attended country show in the city’s history.
Reflecting on his first headlining European tour during his last show at Dublin, Ireland’s 3Arena on Sept. 8, Wallen said, “It’s truly been an eye-opening experience for me and my band, and a heartwarming experience as well just to see how people across the world relate to the music that we’ve been making for the past few years.”
The tour, from August 28 to September 8, included additional shows in Stockholm, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark.
During his time overseas, Morgan received three plaques from UMG Sweden, UMG Ireland, and EMI UK to commemorate streaming milestones, including “One Thing At A Time” achieving Platinum certification in Norway and Ireland and Gold certification in the U.K., while “Last Night” became 6x Platinum in Ireland, and Platinum-certified in the U.K., Sweden, and Norway.
Wallen recently enjoyed a six-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” which recently finished at No. 1 on Billboard’s 2024 Songs of the Summer chart, becoming the singer’s second consecutive Billboard Song of the Summer. Wallen is only the second artist ever to achieve that feat, and the first in 46 years.
