Behind His Songs and Ink: Brantley Gilbert’s Latest Album ‘Tattoos’
Backstage Country’s guest host this week is none other than Brantley Gilbert with his latest album, the very fittingly named, Tattoos. For one week, he will be the show’s guest host answering all of Kelly Ford’s questions, and diving into all the interesting details fans are dying to know about him, such as the three things that he’s terrified of (snakes, sharks, and his wife!), the most trouble he’s gotten himself into and the most unusual place he’s slept.
The Story Behind Brantley Gilbert’s Tattoos
Gilbert discussed not just his latest album, Tattoos, but also his actual tattoos. “A lot of my tattoos tell a story. There are things I believe in. They’re reminders. They’re dedications to my kids and tributes to those who have who’ve passed away.” He related it to his latest album, “You know, all of my albums have always told the story of my life, and my tattoos do the same thing on all of my albums up to this point.” He added, “You know, tattoos aren’t necessarily spiritual or about my faith, but mine are.”
Album Cover for Tattoos
If you have been out of the loop and haven’t seen Gilbert’s latest album cover yet, boy, you are in for a treat! Of course, Ford did not miss the chance to ask him about it and whether he’d just been sitting around lifting weights to prepare for his half-naked album cover. Gilbert laughed about it saying he would not have predicted doing this ten years ago.
Track List for Tattoos
For his seventh album, Gilbert co-wrote all ten songs with long-time collaborators. Known for reflecting his life on songs he includes in his albums, Gilbert made sure Tattoos also embodies his journey and experiences. For the song “Me and My House”, Struggle Jennings and Demun Jones wrote the verses they performed, making it one of the most memorable tracks on the album.
