It’s just crazy to think that the people that I look up to in this industry and like people who have influenced and inspired me, were like, right next to me, just cheer me on.” She added, “It’s kind of like that, that stamp of approval. Not that you need approval from other people, but it definitely gives you that, like, boost of confidence to keep on going.” Wilson also stated that she did not become a country music star to win awards, but it’s nice to win.

Wilson not only won the ACM Entertainer of the Year Award this year, but she also won the Female Artist of the Year. In her speech after winning the latter, Wilson took the opportunity to address the women of the country music industry. “A lot of the women are some of my best friends and helped pull me over that wall.” She also mentioned Wynonna Judd, “It’s crazy to think, me and Wynonna Judd, we talk every week. Iron sharpens iron and I want to thank all those women who do that” per the Daily Mail.

After talking about the ACM, Ford wanted to know what Wilson would feel if Whirlwind were nominated for Album of the Year by the CMAs without, of course, jinxing it! “Oh, my lord. I mean. It’s the best stuff I’ve ever done.” She reiterated, “I can say that this is the best stuff that I have ever done, and I know that. So, if it don’t get nominated, I still know it’s the best stuff I ever did, but it would mean a lot.”
Ford said that as someone who’s followed Wilson’s career and conducted interviews with her, has confirmed Wilson’s remarkable “glow up” and evolution from a talented up-and-comer to a major influence in the country music industry.
