Sisterhood of the Country Music Stage: Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert’s Epic Bond
We all have that work friend that makes coming to work not only bearable but also fun. Now, imagine if that friend were Miranda Lambert. According to this week’s Backstage Country host, Lainey Wilson, Lambert is a “dear friend” and a very genuine person.
Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert’s Friendship
Kelly Ford of Backstage Country shared the sentiment of all country music fans when news of a Wilson and Lambert collaboration happening: shookt. Ford recently interviewed Wilson asked her about the song, “Good Horses.”
Wilson described Lambert as her “country music sister,” saying, “She’s got my back, and I know that. And she’s so proud of me. She truly genuinely cheers me on.” In an industry where women are often pitted against one another, it’s nice to know this isn’t the case between the two. Wilson emphasized, “It’s important for us ladies to be able to call each other and check on each other because this business is wild.”
“Good Horses”
Wilson admitted she still can’t believe she co-wrote a song with Lambert, “Never in a million years did I think I’d be writing songs with Miranda.” When Ford asked how the two ended up doing “Good Horses,” Wilson shared, “She called me and was like, ‘Lainey, I want you to come to my house and I want to feed you, and maybe we’ll write a song.’” (Now, where to find someone willing to feed me? Asking for a friend.)
Wilson had the idea for “Good Horses” for a while but hadn’t found anyone interested in writing it with her. So, for Lambert to agree with her idea, “I mean, she bit it immediately because she and I both, we love that, like a Western way of life and like that country life and, and we love, like, run in the road. But we also know that home is where the heart is.”
For fans of both Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert, this collaboration is a dream come true. As Ford puts it, their “harmonies are like butter.” She’s not the only one to think so, as is evident in the comment section of Wilson’s YouTube page. Fans are raving about the song. As one fan (@kentuckysurvival) puts it, they’re “rewriting country music with a sound that hasn’t been heard in years.”
