Jack of All Trades: Chris Young—Singer, Songwriter, Podcast Host
Chris Young is a well-known and well-loved country music star with hits like “Famous Friends” and “I’m Comin’ Over.” But what everyone doesn’t know is that Young is also a podcast host, and a pretty darn good one. And just like in his music, he’s bringing his wit and humor to the podcasting world.
The Quad with Chris Young
In his recent interview with Backstage Country’s Kelly Ford, Young talked about his podcast, The Quad with Chris Young. Contrary to what some might expect from a country music star, his podcast isn’t just about music. In fact, it covers a wide range of topics, highlighting the different interests of the hosts. “The Quad with Chris Young is four of us, four topics, hence the name of the quad,” Young explained the rationale behind the podcast’s name.
The Quad’s Co-Hosts
Young introduced the other hosts of the podcasts. “There’s Hailey McInnis, who has been an animal trainer at Universal Studios. Done a lot of other things, but she is the ‘Angry Bear,’ that we nicknamed her because she’s a Bears fan.” He also talked about Ryan, who is from Miami, “But he reps basically anything Florida. We nicknamed him ‘Florida Man,’ because if there’s a team in Florida, he probably works for them.” The last member to make up the quad is Josh Gleave, who’s been a long-time buddy of Young’s. “Josh and I met through mutual friends in the songwriting community right off Music Row years ago. He’s a great player, great singer, great musician, also a great songwriter.”
Future Podcast Topic
Speaking about sports, Ford, who did sports radio a while back, pitched a new topic for The Quad; which sport shouldn’t be considered as one? The idea is if it’s something that everybody can do, it shouldn’t count as a sport. The list got interesting, including breakdancing (what a shocker—2024 meme olympics anyone?), curling, auto racing, cycling, running, golf, baseball, football, and soccer. Young liked the idea and said he’d bring it up on the podcast.
