To celebrate the album announcement, Turner released a new track on Friday (6/21), titled “Down In Georgia,” written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia and Brent Rupard. It follows the first song to be revealed from This Country Music Thing, “Heatin’ Things Up,” which he debuted at the Grand Ole Opry back in April.
“Down in Georgia” starts the album off with a feel-good declaration of Southern comfort. Turner’s focus for the lead-off track was on texture, layering an arena-ready foundation with acoustic hooks and quick-hitting lyrics from a new batch of writers, who nonetheless captured his current state of mind. “I think they’ve been reading my mail, because I married a girl from Georgia and we actually moved to Georgia last year,” says the South Carolina native.
Turner’s This Country Music Thing follows his first-ever Greatest Hits released in fall of 2023. He is currently out on the road for his ‘The Greatest Hits Tour’ throughout 2024 with upcoming stops in Bettendorf, IA, Troy, MO, Central Point, OR, and Trinidad, CA.
