Luke Bryan Talks Latest Hit, ‘But I Got A Beer In My Hand’

Luke Bryan has had an incredible year and to top it off, he’s joining us all week to guest host Shawn Parr’s Backstage Country. We had to get right down to business and talk about his latest hit, “But I Got A Beer In My Hand.”

“It’s just a fun song that talks obviously about a guy that, the girl kind of left him. And, you know, life could be terrible, but I got a beer in my hand, which makes life a little bit better,” Bryan told Shawn Parr. “I didn’t write the song, but the first time I heard it, I was like, this thing will be fun to get out there. And we’ve been playing it all year out on the road, and it’s been fun watching the fans singing along and holding their beers up and just letting loose and not really having any worries or stress.”

If anyone knows how to have a good time or needs help getting a beer in someone’s hands, it’s most certainly Bryan. Earlier this year, the 47-year-old introduced the song with a live performance on the season finale of American Idol, where he will return very soon as a judge.

The fun and up-tempo track follows his 30th No. 1 single, “Country On.” Bryan’s “But I Got A Beer In My Hand” was co-written by Chase McGill, Matt Dragstrem, and Geoff Warburton and will be featured on his highly anticipated forthcoming album.

Parr went on to joke with the country hitmaker saying, “You know what’s weird? I don’t think you have any other songs with beer in the title.” Bryan got a good laugh and in response said, “You gotta have a little of that. It’s not practice what you preach, it’s sing what you preach.”

Bryan will kick off the New Year in Mexico for Crash My Playa this January with special guests Dierks Bentley, Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, Bailey Zimmerman, and more. He will also headline American Western Weekend 2024 in Texas.

A great collaboration. The final single from Florida Georgia Line's debut album. The video of the song shows a biker named Kenny losing a bet and having to jump a tree. He fails, resulting in his dirt bike being stuck in the tree. When he, Travis Pastrana (a professional motorsports competitor), and some other guys are found stranded by Hubbard, Kelley, and Bryan as a result of the failed dirt bike trick, Kelley invites them to a party in the back of their semi-truck, which is revealed throughout the video to consist of dancing women and beer.
