The band consists of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, cousin Barry Knox, and Josh McSwain. They were subject to an armed robbery on their RV after a show in 2010. Parmalee's drummer revealed to People, "I had a 5% chance of living." He had been shot three times outside of a club in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Parmalee posted the following statement to Instagram on the "Gonna Love You" music video:
"For those of y’all who know us and our journey you know this story. For those who don’t, this is a true story and a pivotal moment in our lives and career. Sometimes a song finds purpose. Thankfully this song came into our lives when we felt it was time to tell this story. Yes, it was hard to re-create this. Yes, filming these scenes brought back so many emotions and memories.. but we’ve always tried to find the silver lining in everything. We hope that anyone who sees this can find hope no matter what they are going through, find love in places you would never expect to and most of all know that you can persevere no matter what the circumstances.. Thanks to everyone.. our families, friends, fans, musicians and bands who raised money for us, first responders, doctors and strangers we never met who prayed for Scott’s recovery. From this moment to where we are now, thanks to everyone who’s been a part of our lives, our career, and have helped us get to where we are today. We love y’all… Parmalee."
The group recently released their extended album, For You 2, which features five new songs, including their No. 1 single, "Girl In Mine."

When Hollywood actors went on strike for the first time in forty years last week, production on all sets stopped. That affected all country stars acting in TV or movies.
The strike will not affect reality shows like American Idol and The Voice, full of country music royalty helping young budding stars' dreams come true. Those shows will go on as scheduled, giving us all the chance to see Reba McEntire and Dan + Shay sitting in red chairs on The Voice as first-time coaches on the show.
According to the guidelines, SAG-AFTRA members cannot attend premieres, do interviews for completed work, go to awards shows, attend film festivals, or even promote projects on social media while the strike is in effect. They are also prohibited from attending conventions such as Comic-Con to promote any past or present work made under a SAG-AFTRA contract.
The strike will affect those country stars that have done a lot of acting in the past, including Tim McGraw, McEntire, Lainey Wilson, Randy Houser, and more.
We searched for what to watch on TV and streaming services during the strike, which could last for months. For you, we gathered some TV shows already on streaming services where you can watch your favorite country stars flexing their acting skills, talking about their career in documentaries, and more.
