Old Dominion: What They Learned, Opening for Kenny Chesney
If you’re looking to take a trip down Memory Lane, look no further than Old Dominion‘s 2023 ‘No Bad Vibes Tour.’ Between the band’s headlining tour, a brand new album, and a CMA nomination, it’s safe to say, these guys are having a good year.

Matthew Ramsey, Brad Tursi, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung, and Whit Sellers of Old Dominion are our guests on Shawn Parr’s Backstage Country this week. The guys opened up to Shawn Parr all about their tour thus far and, more specifically, the artists who are opening the show.
“You wind up with a few artists that are available for the whole thing. And this time we were like, ‘Maybe we can just kind of shuffle them around and find some that are available for some of it.’ So that way we can get people in there that we would really love to share our audience with and really think that it could amp up the show and take it to the next level,” Ramsey told Shawn Parr.
Old Dominion brought out a “rotating cast” for their highly-acclaimed tour this year, including Tyler Hubbard, Chase Rice, Kylie Morgan, Priscilla Block, Adam Doleac, Kylie Morgan, Jameson Rodgers, Kassi Ashton, and Niko Moon on select dates.
The band took some time to reflect on their days as an opening act and what they learned along the way. Old Dominion spent summers out on the road with country superstar Kenny Chesney and as of most recently his 2022 Here and Now Tour.
“I used to think that being an opening band, you really didn’t get much out of it except for like experience and playing and getting that time under your belt. But after being an opener for Kenny for so long and realizing how many fans we gained from that, that completely shifted my perspective. So I think we all just want to be a resource really for anyone who would want to use us that’s opening for us,” Ramsey added.
