Brantley Gilbert Talks ‘So Help Me God’ Deluxe Edition
Brantley Gilbert released the deluxe version of So Help Me God on Friday, April 21. When he joined Shawn Parr on Backstage Country we got a glimpse into the why behind the addition of the five new tracks.
“You know the deluxe edition for me, it’s five songs in addition to the original tracks that were on the record. And it’s an opportunity for me to kind of tie up loose ends in the story. If there’s any themes or, you know, if we just feel like we missed the song on the album, it’s a chance for us to add that in. And this is that’s exactly what this deluxe does. The songs on the super special. You know, they kind of answer some unanswered questions from earlier in the album. And, you know, we’re able to sneak a little some tongue in cheek in there on Bury Me Upside Down, You know. Songs like, “Behind the Times”, “Tailgates of Heaven”, you know, these things are songs that after we put the album out, these are the ones that were still stuck in our head, that were still on the table, that were raising their hand and wanted to be heard”, said Gilbert.
The five new tracks are “Wrote the Book Around Here,” “Tailgates of Heaven,” “Bury Me Upside Down,” “All Over the Map” and “Behind the Times.” Gilbert co-wrote each of the new tracks on the album.
