While on stage playing a show on her "Denim and Rhinestones Tour" in Charlotte on Wednesday (2/8), Carrie Underwood shared with the crowd that she, her husband, and sons have a new family member: a new puppy.

After technical difficulties prompted her to chat a bit, Carrie told the crowd, "I adopted a puppy. Don't tell my children. It's a surprise." An audience member asked her about the new puppy's breed; she said, "I don't know. The best kind. The rescue kind. We're shelter dog people. That's how we roll."

She posted several images from that show on her Instagram, writing, "Charlotte was a blast last night! Thank you for being so sweet to us! Our soundboard was a little tired from all the awesomeness we've been serving up lately and needed a reboot mid-show…Thankfully, our hard-working crew got it back up and running, and you guys stuck with us! Thanks for making it a show we'll never forget! #DenimAndRhinestonesTour #Charlotte @spectrumcenter @jeffjohnsonimages."

In April of last year, Underwood lost her longtime dog and companion, Ace. Carrie posted several photos of her dog, including one of her kissing his head and another in front of the Christmas Tree. She wrote, "Last night my sweet Ace left this world…he will forever live on in our hearts and be forever missed."

She added, "He was there for me when I was on my own trying to figure out life when it was at its craziest! He was with me through 3 houses, 6 tours, and 2 kids… always ready to snuggle and play…through all the highs and lows. He was a true friend and a good boy till the very end. I love you, sweet Ace…see you on the other side…"

Some of Underwood's country music friends and fans commented on the sad post, including Miranda Lambert, "So sorry. I know how bad that hurts. Sending love your way." See that post here.
